Cashmere, how to care
Every day life!
A cashmere is a bit like a love affair. It is requesting some efforts to keep it nice and soft for a long time. Here is a little help:
Even if your piece had become your ‘truc fétiche’ (your favorite thing) you should not wear it every day. Let it recover from its exhausting life on your side from time to time folded flat or on a hanger.
When you wear it, avoid wearing it close to dry materials which could rub and peel, as a fancy lining in your coat or straps of your bag. And make sure your man did shave recently before he wears your scarf.
Peeling is not avoidable even on the highest quality. When the knitting is too tight the cashmere is not peeling so much but it is not so soft either and when the knitting is too loose it would be of wonderful softness but awfully peeling. The art of making cashmere is to combine the tension of the knitting and the softness to reduce peeling.
When there appears some peeling cut it carefully away with a good pair of scissors.
Your cashmere loves water!
After the production the knit is not soft and supple as we know and love it but a little harsh and greasy. The finished garment is washed in huge industrial machines to achieve the legendary softness of the fiber.
Do not hesitate to wash your garment in the machine at cold wool cycle. After washing, dry flat on a towel and iron with steam before cutting eventually remaining peeling.
You will see your beloved piece is like new again!
